On regular weekly bird monitoring in Škocjanski zatok Nature Reserve today (22.11.2012), 48 specimen of birds were counted or 2055 individuals.
The most intereresting species observed:
- Black-throated Diver (Gavia arctica) – 1 individual
- Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica) – 1 individual
- Common Shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) – 1 individual
- Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) – 1 individual
Other intereresting species observed:
- Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) – 54 ind.
- Common Pochard (Aythya ferina) – 5 ind.
- Black-necked Grebe (Podiceps nigricollis) – 2 ind.
- Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata) – 45 ind.
- Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) – 3 ind.
- Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) – 9 ind.
- Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago) – 5 ind.
- Eurasian Jackdaw (Corvus monedula) – 13 ind.
- Penduline Tit (Remiz pendulinus) – 10 ind.
- Hedge Accentor (Prunella modularis) – 5 ind.
- Water Pipit (Anthus spinoletta) – 11 ind.
- Hawfinch (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) – 1 ind.
The most numerous were the Common Coot (Fulica atra – 668 ind.) and the Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus – 523 ind.).
